Ideally, Plumpy\u2019Mum\u2122 is distributed in targeted nutritional supplementation programs or during interventions such as Behavior Change Communication (BCC). One of the objectives of this program is to sensitize populations to good feeding practices and obstetric care.<\/p>

Inadequate nutritional status of mothers is considered to be the main cause of infra-uterine growth retardation and low birth weight.<\/p>

Too low birth weight (<2500g) represents the highest risk of neonatal death and can have irreversible consequences on the cognitive and motor development of the newborn.<\/p>

This product was developed thanks to the results of a study on nutritional supplementation of women before childbirth in rural areas in Burkina Faso.
